Position: HSE Advisor

Salary: Dependent on experience/£270 - £300 per day
Hours: 10 hours per day paid 9.5
Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced HSE Advisor to join our team and oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance at a construction and manufacturing plant. The role involves ensuring that all site activities adhere to legal regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. This is a key position in promoting a culture of safety, reducing risks, and driving environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety Management
Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and site-specific risk assessments.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with relevant HSE legislation, including CDM 2015, and other local regulations.
Incident and Emergency Management
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports with root cause analyses and recommendations for improvement.
Lead emergency preparedness initiatives, including drills and updates to site emergency response plans.
Training and Awareness
Deliver HSE inductions and ongoing training to staff, contractors, and visitors.
Promote a safety-first culture through campaigns, toolbox talks, and regular communication.
Environmental Compliance
Monitor and manage environmental risks, including waste management, emissions control, and resource efficiency.
Ensure compliance with environmental permits and sustainability objectives.
Documentation and Reporting
Carry out and update RAMS
Maintain accurate records of audits, incidents, and inspections in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and submit regular HSE performance reports to management.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with construction, manufacturing, and engineering teams to integrate HSE considerations into planning and operations.
Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent HSE qualification.
Proven experience in an HSE advisory role within construction and/or manufacturing environments 2+ years of experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of UK HSE regulations, including CDM 2015 and ISO 45001.
Strong risk assessment and incident investigation skills.
