Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Boiler Commissioning Engineer to manage and oversee the commissioning of boiler systems for a new build power generation project in the UK. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring boiler systems are safely and effectively commissioned to meet project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commissioning of boiler systems, including steam generation units, combustion control systems, and associated equipment.

  • Develop detailed commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules to align with project milestones.

  • Coordinate and oversee functional testing, pressure testing, and system integration testing.

  • Manage the calibration, testing, and verification of boiler control instruments, safety valves, and sensors.

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and UK health & safety regulations.

  • Provide technical leadership to commissioning teams, ensuring effective collaboration with other disciplines.

  • Conduct fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of boiler system issues.

  • Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation, including test records, punch lists, and progress reports.

  • Collaborate with design, construction, and client teams to ensure project success.

  • Mentor and train junior engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and development of commissioning best practices.

  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and process teams to ensure seamless system integration in a power generation environment.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Boiler Engineering (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven experience in boiler commissioning, preferably in new build power generation projects in the UK.

  • Strong technical knowledge of boiler systems, combustion control, and steam generation.

  • Familiarity with IEC, ISA, and relevant UK industry standards.

  • Demonstrable leadership experience in commissioning projects.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.

Desirable Skills
  • Experience with power generation technologies such as gas turbines, steam turbines, or combined cycle power plants.

  • Competency in commissioning tools and software.

  • Certification in boiler safety or pressure system regulations is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of mechanical protection systems and fault-finding techniques.
