Rate: £24.00 per hour Monday to Friday - £30.00 per hour Weekend - £60.00 per day accommodation allowance

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team on an exciting new build project involving the installation of conveyor systems. This role is critical to the successful delivery of a state-of-the-art facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical fitting, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, align, and assemble conveyor systems and associated mechanical components according to technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.

  • Inspect and prepare parts, tools, and equipment required for installation.

  • Fit bearings, shafts, rollers, motors, and other conveyor system components with precision.

  • Perform on-site welding, cutting, and drilling where required to modify or adapt components.

  • Conduct load testing, alignment checks, and troubleshooting during and after installation.

  • Adhere to site health and safety regulations, including maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

  • Work collaboratively with project engineers, supervisors, and other trades to ensure timely completion of tasks.

  • Complete relevant documentation and reporting for quality assurance and compliance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, particularly in conveyor system installation or similar projects.

  • Education: Relevant vocational qualifications in mechanical engineering, fitting, or equivalent (e.g., NVQ Level 3).

  • Skills:

    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.

    • Proficiency with hand and power tools.

    • Welding and fabrication skills (advantageous).

    • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Certifications:

    • Valid CSCS card or equivalent.

    • IPAF

    • Relevant safety training (e.g., Manual Handling, Working at Height).
